佛前的一株小草
A Grass Before Buddha
寺院钟声
The temple bell
一声比一声辽远
Rings more and more distant
佛前的一株小草，匍匐着
A grass before Buddha，creeps
像我在人世的姿态
Like my posture in the world
你来烧香
You come to burn joss sticks
他来朝拜
He shows worshiping
双手合什，许多秘密象一群群鸟儿
With hands clasped together. Many secrets like flocks of birds
呵，苦海无边，一一陷入睡眠
'O, bitterness without end， fall asleep one by one
人们在大地种下玉米，水稻
Peole on earth grow crops，and rice
种下玫瑰，粮食和蔬菜
As well as rose, grain and vegetable
种下病痛，忧郁，和欢笑
And plant illness, melancholy and mirth
种下爱情，生老病死
As well as love, life, aging, disease and death
八万里河山，死死抠着时光的碎片
Eighty thousand li of rivers and mountains, clings to time debris
来世，抑或今生
The future world, and the present life
都只是被重复着打开
Are both simply repeatedly opened
青山巍巍，古寺千载屹立
On green mountains rising lofty, for thousands of years old temples stand erect
翻来是云
Beyond the watering sounds, lives the mediocre mortal world
覆去是烟
Comes mist
水声之外，是碌碌的人间
Disperses haze
而我只是佛前一株小草
Yet I'm only a grass before Buddha
哎呀，哎呀，我听到一只夜行的蚂蚁
Oh, oh, I hear an ant crawling in the dark
低语：黑夜好大，辽阔无边
Murmuring of night so vast to be boundless
看，那么小的蚂蚁
Look, Such Little Ants
落日磅礴
The setting sun magnificent
浮云无声
The drifting clouds quiet
花开了又落，草枯了还青
Flowers bloom and then fade. Grass withers and greens again
多好呵，看，那么小的蚂蚁
How wonderful! Look, such little ants
那不曾预见的碎石，残泥
Those unpredictable rubble, mud
填不平的凸凹
Unleveled concavities and convexities
猝不及防的一滩水迹
And a puddle unexpected
墙角下
In a corner
它们把粮食
They carry
把巢穴
Grain
把短短的一生
Nest
搬运
As well as their short life
乡村印象
The Impression Of Village
院子里的樟树，不再向上生长
The camphor tree in the courtyard, no more grows upward
几个人围坐在树下的石桌
A few men sit around a stone table
一盘棋局，楚河汉界分明
Playing a game of chess, with the Chu River and the Han Border separated distinct
穷富放过一边
Let be poverty and richness
生死放过一边
Leave alone life and death
他们坐在那儿，安祥，平和
They are seated there, serene, and peaceful
把一局对决
Doing a game of battle
行进得硝烟不生
Without smoke of gunpower
夜风拂过
Night breeze brushes over
村后的坟茔近在咫尺
So close lie the graves behind the village
他们中有人走了
Away pass some players
有人进来
In join new memebers
多少年过去了
Years roll by
我还能看到他们坐在那儿
But I can still see them sitting there
还能听到那一声：将军
And hear them shouting: Check
从这里开始
Running From Here
早翻开一页
Were the page turned over earlier
迟翻开一页
Or later
天就变了。邂逅的人就失之交臂
Destiny would be changed. The one to encounter could be missed
天亮得刚好
Day breaks just in time
雨来得刚好，候车亭
Rain falls in the nick. At the bus shelter
他和她来得刚好
She and he meet at the right time
公交车来得刚好
The bus comes just then
从北往南，相同的地点和时辰
From north to south, the same destinations and times
上学的沒有来
Those to school don't show up
赶集的沒有来
Nor do the ones to market
上班的沒有来
Nor do those to work
刚好，他和她两个人
When it occurs, only them two
时间，人物，地点，环境
Times, characters, scenes and surroundings
一一俱备
All complete
凤凰南北路
Phoenix South & North Roads
道路在两边楼屋的中间
Through buildings run two roads
凤凰南路朝着北，凤凰北路
Phoenix South Road extends northward, and Phoenix North Road
朝着南，行人头顶着蓝天
Southward. Pedestrians shuttle under the blue sky
多少不同口音的人，各式各样摆设的摊位
Many people in different accents. Various arrangements of stalls
多少不易启口的事
Numbers of things not easy to tell
孩子的学费，老人的抚养费，房子的
Children's schoolings, old folks' alimonies
租费，昨天上午收到的通知：水电费欠交
And rents as well as reminders received yesterday morning saying WATER AND ELECTRICITY UNPAID
这些都藏在呟喝后，笑容后，藏在
All those are concealed, by their ware cries , and smiles
一地廉价的商货里
And hidden in the bargains lying around the ground
那个不停叫卖的妇人，多像
How much that constantly crying woman
我的母亲，那一声一声叫卖里
Is like my mother
转瞬，爬满了皱皱坑坑
In a twinkling, her cries are lined with wrinkles
黄昏说来也就来了
Dusk falls unbidden
从这边到那边，从北走到南
From this road to that, and from north to south
风一吹，我忽地惊觉
With a gale sweeping, I'm suddenly aware
除了风，世界已哑雀无声
That besides the wind, the world has already fallen silent
江山
Rivers And Mountains
日已偏西
West declines the sun
江南的柳丝正长
Growing are the southern willow twigs
几只黄鹂恰恰啼
Through them chirping are a few orioles
一天中，安静坐着的人
All day long, a man
坐在城市背后
Sits quiet behind the city
他什么也没做
He does nothing
一天中，安静地坐着
Sitting quiet, the whole day
他胸有万壑江山
Myriad of rivers and mountains which he minds in vain
投射在面前的残垣
Are reflected in the decrepit walls before him
黄沙，胡杨，盘旋着苍鹰
Diversiform-leaved poplars. Yellow sands. Hovering are goshawks
落日磅礴
The setting sun splendid
一个子虚乌有的人
An imaginary man
在沙堆里坐起身
Sits up from a sand drift
